Code of Ethics
My promise to you
My goal with Wildwood Shamanism is to provide a peaceful retreat where everyone can pause, rest, heal, and reconnect with the person they are meant to be.
In all my actions, I promise to:
I will partner with and be guided by compassionate helping spirits — not ego. I will always clearly delineate messages from spirit from my own advice.
Always work in alignment with Spirit
I will not do shamanic healing, divination, exploratory journeys or follow-ups without the express permission of the client. If the recipient is a minor, permission of both parents and the child are required. For space clearing, the permission of the owner of the land or building is required.
Only work with explicit consent
Seek to empower my clients, students, followers, and visitors
I will take care to share healing and power not just through my services but also through my words, actions and presence. I will avoid actions that might diminish, demotivate, or harm a client.
Avoid inappropriate personal relationships
I will respect the boundaries of my clients as well as my own boundaries. I will do no harm and avoid physical, emotional, sexual, psychological or financial misconduct.
I will communicate in a clear and timely manner. I will be upfront about fees and scheduling. I will be transparent about what will happen during a session. I will answer any questions clients have before or after a session. I will observe all laws and regulations related to my work. I will never share the details of a client session with anyone other than the client.
Be professional
Create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone
I recognize that we are all one. I will respect everyone regardless of race, sex, gender, nationality, ethnicity, political identity, age, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or ability to pay. All are welcome. I will expect my clients and students to offer the same respect and openness to fellow clients and students of Wildwood Shamanism.
Avoid appropriating traditions from indigenous and other shamanic cultures
I practice Core Shamanism, as taught by the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. This is a culturally-agnostic approach to shamanism focused on universal and near-universal shamanic techniques. While I deeply respect indigenous shamanic traditions, I do not purport to have training, expertise, endorsement, or understanding of these traditions. By extension, I will never recommend or sell psychedelics.
Never provide medical or mental health advice
I am not a medical doctor, psychotherapist or formally licensed healthcare provider. I do not provide professional medical or mental health services, diagnoses, treatments or advice. Shamanism is a methodology for supporting the spiritual side of well-being. As such, shamanic services are a wonderful addition to traditional healing and personal growth modalities, not a replacement for them.
Acknowledge that it is the helping spirits who do the healing and provide the answers
I am a partner in this healing and divination work, but it is the Spirits who bring the power, healing, and insight. I will not make promises or claims about the outcomes. Healing can come in many forms, at many levels, and over time — none of which I determine.
Never conduct shamanic work outside my abilities
I will refrain from doing shamanic work if I am not in a mental, emotional, or physical condition to do the work. I will refrain from doing unethical shamanic work — including any work in which the ethics are unclear. I will also refrain from doing shamanic work that I have not been trained to do (and will refer clients out to reputable providers as appropriate).
Always work to bring harmony and healing to the world
I will not force healing or harmony on anyone, but I will seek to be a positive presence and advocate for a happier, safer, more equitable world for all beings. I do believe that the biggest impact we can make on the world is healing ourselves. I hope and strive to support people in this through my work here at Wildwood Shamanism.
Pursue ongoing professional and personal development
I will maintain and expand my shamanic and professional knowledge and skills through ongoing education and training. This includes pursuing my own shamanic practice and healing journey. Also, I will welcome all feedback and take it into consideration.
If you have questions about any of these promises, you can ask me via my Contact page.
